I hope that this program will include rain harvesting, which addresses both water conservation and energy conservation. The conservation of water is obvious but a misnomer -it is a reduction of waste. By capturing rain we also reduce the energy demand of the municipality; in Toronto's case that demand for electricity to pump water around is greater than the electricity demand for streetlighting or that required to operate the TTC -in fact it is the highest electricity demand wedge of the municipality.
