The ECO domain extension would definitely be beneficial to creating awareness. But I guess main concern is whether folks like big oil companies, and other corporate entities would register the extension to safeguard their names from being lampooned. Granted, there are shortage of websites like that out then domain names are like real estate properties. People will buy them up and try reselling to make a profit. Will there be any regulations on registering ".eco" similar to the ".edu"? Maybe what we need to look at is who should be allowed to register ".eco" and for what purpose.
