Clean water, fuel cells and other items…
CNET’s News.com has a number of interesting articles today falling under the cleantech umbrella. Two — here and here — deal with automotive technologies, the potential of fuel cells, and alternatives that could emerge more quickly as oil cracks $70 a barrel. One technology being looked at would do away with the need for spark plugs while improving vehicle fuel economy by 20 per cent.
The final article deals with the desperate need for drinking water in New Orleans and surrounding areas in the aftermath of Katrina. It discusses a number of water purification and treatment technologies that could conceivably come to the rescue of the hurricane victims or victims of future natural disasters. Cleantech Investing has a sobering post on this issue.
